*grumpy*
They told me that they did'nt have any biger cars in stock for wednesday.
Then i found out that they dont have any Range Rovers
But....
There is a Discovery 3 on its way to me on Friday.
I know some dont like them but personally, i'm really looking forward to having one for a week.
Time to make my own opinion on it

Like I said ... TC it is :-)

If you like plastic, you'll love the TC :-) Just remember if they give you an auto - press - 2- 3 - GO!

I nearly lost the rear of one of the loaners getting onto a roundabout by forgetting it didn't go when you radioed the engine room!

The Discovery 3 is here!!
And i'm impressed.
Its a TDV6 S Auto.
Compared to my 300 Tdi its a rocket ship
Seems strange to drive a LR that does'nt wander all over the road and brake to the right on heavy braking
Yes it's quite plasticy but i'd have one.
Nice.

Well, this has gone on for a while now.
My car went in to the body shop and was returned 2 weeks later.
The work was appalling so we sent it back.
The car came back the next day and still looked as bad but this time the body shop told us they had done all they could do (great attitude)
Neadless to say many phone calls went on with the insurance company.
They keeped the D3 on hire whilst this matter was being sorted.
A week later and an insurance assessor turned up and agreed with what we showed him
The list looks like this:-
1. rubbish paint finish (looked like an orange skin)
2. runs in the paint
3. over spray on the inside wheel arch
4. not cleaned at all (when it said in my confirmation letter that the car would be cleaned thoroughly)
5. wrong colour stripe on the side
6. broken rear washer jet
7. i've now got a green exhaust!
8. my parcel shelf is now bent
9. my new rear bumper is scratched
10. rear bumper not fitted straight and the rubber trim is half tucked under it
11. rear bumper bolts all so loose you can spin the washers
12. masking tape left all over the place

I dont need to go on now do i
The insurance company offered us the chance of further rectification by the same body shop.
You can imagine my response
Like **** was it going back to those ********
After another 2 weeks and many phone calls by SWMBO to the insurance company i decided it was time to speak to them myself.
After getting passed from pillar to post (and being on hold with the most annoying music ever)
I finally speak to the right person in the right department.
I inform them of my disgust of this whole sham and and offer them a solution.
I reckoned there was about £500-£600's worth of rectification work + another week of the D3 (which must be £300 a week)
Being an ex-valeter for a body shop I learned a few things about making cars look nice.
I offered to put right all the mistakes on my car but I required paying, for my time.
I need to get a new stripe for the side and a new rear washer jet.
The rear bumper needs removing and respraying and refitting correctly.
The over spray needs removing and the car needs a good wash.
I have already done all the work.  8)
There is a nice fat cheque for £300 winging its way to me as we speak.
Its been a funny old experience.
I test drove a D3 for 5 weeks (including off road) and ended up with my car fixed to the standard that I expected and got payed for the pleasure.
Not bad in the end
Now, I just need the D3 collecting and it'll all be over

Glad it ended up ok, BUT it shouldn't have gone so far as you having to do the work yourself.

Well done for sticking to your guns

Insurers are just cr4p aren't they?

First time I had to take Blue in they offered me a pug 206 or something, they weren't too impressed when I said I'd be towing the Brian James with a capri on it at the weekend.  Funny but I'm still waiting for that to be sorted (snowball insurance if you must know).

When the noddy went in I could hardly demand a 4x4 in it's place, I needed it for work anyway  but on the 3rd (or was it 4th) attempt at paining it I insisted on an identical replacement, the Coarser they lent me over christmas was so [PooPoo] I started loosing work because of it.

I will never accept the approved garage again, they get the job because they are cheap, they ar4 cheap because they don't employ any skilled staff.  Ray Charles could have sprayed my car better.
