Hotwire a Defender?

OK, this may sound like a dodgy question.  I bought a bulkhead from a scrap yard with the ignition damaged.  I have bought a push button start with a switch, each has 2 terminals.  I know the original ignition has 4 connections, can anyone tell me how I can wire up the new switch.  The original has 2 big wires and 2 small wires.  I am sure the solution is simple, but hey!

I'm no wiring wizz but at a guess it simply cuts the power to the starter, so the 2 big wires are the posative feed to/from the starter, then when you press the button it connects them...simple huh...

However the small wires are probably an ignition feed, it de-activate the switch, it will only become active when the ignition is switched on, for which youll still need a key.

Thats how most "simple" push button starters work, so insert key, press button and it starts. Without key = no go.

I just did some work with the ignition barrell and the wiring on mine.  Now I seem to recall that brown is perm live, the other big one is the switched live to drive everything else.  The two smaller wires are fuel pump and starter but I'm not 100% about those, I've got a sneaky suspition that I found one to be live with the ignition off, but then again I may be gong mad!

It's speculation re you ignition, but the brown wire is permanent live on my Disco.

im not telling you anything, especially not on a public forum!! hotwiring cars is not the best topic to have in a public place.
