BMW Drivers?!?!?!

(1/4) > >>

Thrasher:
On my way in to work today I was annoyed by a number of BMW drivers, at different times, who obviously owned the road and assumed we all knew what they were doing.

Now I know the joke about indicators being optional extras, but I was taught to indicate my intentions at ALL times, this means that yes, at 3am, when I am on my own on a road I will still indicate. Call me silly if you please, but it is the way I am.

Anyway, one of these "kings of the road" pulled up next to me at the lights, so I wound down my window and motioned for him to do the same.

"Excuse me - are you some sort of mind reader?" I asked.

"No" came the reply with a baffled look.

"Good, neither am I - so will you please use your indicators in future." said I.

"Oh I'm sorry!", followed by a rather embarrased blush!?!?

I said "Thanks" as I wound up my window....

I was laughing all the way to work after that ;-)

If you do an IAM Advanced Driving test, the rule is to indicate if it will benefit another road user.  That means you don't have to indicate if there's nothing around, but if there's no cars and a pedestrian on the pavement you should indicate.

I have been known to comment that "it's such a shame, really, that BMW gave you indicators but god didn't give you the brains to use them."

Thrasher:
Andy, I can understand the theory there :-)

I have of course got my brain now working in such a way that any manouver is indicated - almost without realising. I blame this on my constant use of the indicator when I first started driving

My pet hate is people not understanding indicators, and getting all confused on roundabouts :(

Yeah, it's better to signal when you don't need to than to NOT signal when you should.

There's a roundabout on my daily drive to and from work that I used to drive (until it was re-marked a few months ago) with one hand covering the horn.  I used it 2-3 times a week on that one spot.
