Brake prob (i hope).

(1/4) > >>

Edge:
Travelling along at 35-40mph... apply brakes ready to take side road exit....

I get a sound like ive driven over a flattened tin drink can.

Its happened a couple of time now.... Is it the brake shoes (which are new) moving about? Or something more serious.

extreme90:
or it could be trug    last time i hade that problem it was the anti rattle springs  :?  go over what you ha :? e done to the brakes, if it was fine before and now after it isnt, its got to be what you have done inbertween  if you get me lol
danny

ian_s:
so you hear a metallic tinny tinkle when you apply the brakes?
i reckon its either the retaining plates, or the pads moving as you brake.

or, worst case, one of you caliper bolts has loosend/sheared

Edge:
Thanks guys.... ive checked the pads are secure etc and theyre all fine...  Its only started happening since i had all the bushes (front/rear) replaced and axle guard fitted... oh and new front wheel bearings too.

After i did the brakes (about a month ago) everything was fine.

When it happens, its on stretches of road with a slight bend (very slight) as i'm braking.

Its exactly the same sound as when you go over a can of coke etc thats already been flattened.... like a sort of Thwaaack

I'd check the wheel bearing adjustment, they may well have settled a bit.
