Any one know about dogs?

Loads of dogs do this especially GSDs

I walk a GSD / flatcoat cross that ate his and anything else's he could get.

Went through a spell of telling him Diirrrrrty ! in a very stern voice.

Then chased him shouting that with a big stick next time he tried it.
(I wouldn't have hit him - but he didn't know that)

Doesn't do it anymore!

Also didn't do any damage to man / dog relationship that has helped me train him out of other bad habits to the extent he is now one of the best behaved dogs you could meet

Apart from mine (Irish Wolfhound Lurcher)

Re the diet - Pedigree pouches and mixer = perfect productions every time  :lol:

It may just be a simple mineral deficiency and can be solved with a diet change.

I would tackle the problem with a two pronged approach. Firstly try all the dietary advice suggested on the posts above so his pooh isn't so attractive for him, there's some good points.

Secondly, have a go at training the bad habit out of him so that then he knows its naughty to eat his or any other dog's pooh that might take his fancy.
Take an old plastic half litre drink bottle and half fill with stones or gravel. Then you will need to watch him like a hawk. Whenever he starts to look like he might start eating pooh, shout NO and simultaneously throw the bottle at the ground beside him. Don't hit him with it and don't throw the bottle in the pooh! The intention is to scare the hell out of him with the noisy bottle and your own voice, so shout No as though you really mean it; put a growl in your voice (it'll probably scare the neighbours too). You may need to keep this up for 2 or 3 weeks until he gets the message but be consistent, so if anyone else takes him out ask them to do the same.

The same technique can be used for other bad habits too.
