miss firing

i have now cleaned and replaced the jets on my zenith carb to no good effect.still missing at idle and sounds terrible on over run

could you have knocked the timing out a fraction?

Does the popping and banging on overun cure it self / get better if you pull the choke out?

James.Harwood:
Check that the HT leads are all connected properly and in good condition (when dark start engine and look for blue arks from leads to somewhere else). Check Distributor cap for cracks (on the inside) and all the 'pins' are there. Check points and condensor.

clean contacts on rotor arm. (forgot to mention that).
