Interesting reading. Just out of curiosity, how much does your average Horse weigh and how much does a horse box weigh? I also assume a horse box IS a braked trailer unit.

good question not a clue :oops: :oops:
it was braked and a rough guess in the office was 1500 - 1700 Kg with horses
pug towing weight is about 900Kg

Just did a bit of research (this is all pretty much like caravans) and, the lightest single horse box weighs unladen 585kg but average is around 650kg and most twin horse boxes weigh around 850 kg unladen. The average horse weighs around 550kg plus tack.
I've seen a few Freelanders pulling a twin horse box round here, their max tow is 1800kg so they are probably over the limit !
