Flickering Oil Light

(1/3) > >>

Horness:
Got this on my Disco, but only after getting it very wet up front a couple of weeks ago.

Thought it was the connector that attaches just above the oil filter. Took it off, dried it, and crimped it tighter, and I thought the problem had gone.

Then on the way home last night - a small flicker on the oil light, and again tonight.  It's almost like it wants to stall, and it actually did tonight (with the Air Con on).
The light goes out with a few more revs, and when idle with the Air Con switched on, it seems to flicker in time with the vibrations of the engine (which was why I thought it was that connector)

No oil/water loss at all. Serviced last week, nothing to report from there either.

 :?:

Thoughts?  Ideas?  Or just funny jokes to take my mind off the problem?

Xtremeteam:
oooh
mine did that

oil pump was funked,id get it invesyigated ASAP IE put a guage onit

burgerman:
yep,   wise words,   get a mechanical guage to accurately check the oil pressure,   most good garages should have one,  or a engine machine shop if you have one near by??  but  as a precaution i would reccomend not using untill till ya get it checked out,   hope its not toooooo serious,   i know the oil pump gears wear quite often and are readily available n not too hard to replace, many other causes though   good luck

bilge rat:
there is an oil temp thermostat, fits by the oil filter. might be worth changing. is the oil light coming on only on t/over ?. what oil ya running with it being so hot iff shes working hard towing or something your oil could have the same viscosity as water. think they recomend semi synth oil. fully synth could give you probs in this heat i think. alan....

Horness:

Thanks guys - I will drop it into the garage tomorrow for them to have a quick look.

If it is the pump - idea of price?  It will be a Land Rover Garage (not dealer) as I'm about as mechanically minded as a bowl of salad.

Cheers
Horness
