XP and IE Question

<< < (2/2)

strapping young lad:
does it say where these are coming from (within your computer i mean)

if you want to restrict what accesses the internet, i would suggest Kerio Personal Firewall

ive played with a few others and find this one the easiest to manage

sure after 30 days you only get the basic stuff with it but from when you first install it and try to do something with it (net-wise) it will pop up a warning asking whether the application is allowed to access the internet.

google kerio and download it

also the suggestion for reinstalling outlook and IE is absolute tosh!

i use firefox in work but it doesnt handle secure requests very well internally (print admin etc) so i use IE begrudgingly for that

i use IE at home cos i cant be bothered to use anything else!

Hi Dyfed, does not say where from.  Had same sort of problem on my computer truned out to be a micosoft program that had installed its self on the start up screen, not the same this time.

Bob696:
it might be some sort of high jacker virus. If you can get a copy of adaware  ( http://www.ada-ware.com/ ) onto the machine then try that.

SMason0877:
I assume you are getting these file alerts through your firewall??  Have you tried dropping your firewall just to see if that sorts the problem out??  Sometimes its better to work backwards through the problem if you get my meaning.

Ive done some searches on the files you mentioned and cant find any reference to them, ill keep looking and let you know if come up with something.

Good Luck

Colin 009:
Thanks for the advice, have a disc from PC Advisor with different stuff on it will try some of it tomorow.
