I bought a second-hand Kenlowe fan and upon fitting it recently found the thermostatic switch was goosed - the fan ran continuously. With my 200 running fairly cool anyway I didn't want that, and I doubt the fan would have lasted long running all the time.

Soo off to X-Eng and bought a fan controller and split charge relay - having had two batteries in for a few weeks but simply wired in parallel.

I can heartily recommend both products - well made, easy to fit, good instructions and "do exactly what they say on the tin".

X-Charge
X-Fan dual thermo fan controller
X-Cap - yes I got one of these too and apart from looking nice it really is ten times easier to remove than the standard one :)

I have the X-Charge - great quality piece of kit.

I like these.  They were not available last time I looked!


Only thing is, I need a light bar making out of 46mm or 51mm tubing to fit them to.  :roll:   Any fabricators out there?

Hmm - I think I'll be spending some more money next week!  :twisted:

Looking in the fitting manual - the X-Lites use these bulbs


I'm thinking of ordering 2 sets (2x 12 degree and 2x 38 degree) to give me a pencil-like beam from the middle, and a spread beam on the outsides.

Question is - are these bulbs going to up to the job?

In my opinion, I've got to say that I'm not overly impressed with those lights - they look more suited to a display window in Dorothy Perkins or something (which I think is exactly where they have come from!).
The lamps are standard 12V dichroic type with a GU5.3 cap and reading the fitting instructions they just appear to have had a groove machined in the back of the body to fit a tube/cage.
I wasn't aware of a 'rough service' lamp of this type and there doesn't appear to be anything to stop water entering the body of the fitting.
Are they really fit for purpose?!

Can't help thinking just what is that purpose.

Don't look at all like a typical automotive light bulb. Not sure they'd stand up to the vibrations and knocks on my motor.

What wattage are they anyway?


Edity:- Ok 50w . . . . that neans naff all . . . . what we need is relative lumens and illuminance values.

I'm thinking of getting a light bar made up like this:

...but I'm having trouble finding suitable lights to give me the pencil/broad beam setup.

If I was in the position of re-doing my lightbar I think I would go for something along the lines of the light-bar with lugs on to fit my own lamps and then a pair of Hella FF75 driving lamps in the centre and FF75 fog's on the outer.

That's why I was asking greenlane4x4 if they'd do me a custom bar like the one above - looks like you've answered the "which lights" question though.  :wink:
