Waterproofing or moving ECU
blacknight:
Is it posible to waterproof or move the ecu to a higher position to stop the ingress of water.
I need to do this asap so any methods or ideas will be much appreciated.
In fact any ideas for waterproofing a V8 Range Rover, or even making a home made snorkel(photo's or a diagram please) would be of a great help.
The vehicle is a Range Rover 3.9 V8 1992
Thanks
Range Rover Blues:
Most if not all the connection for the ECU are made via the driver's footwell so I think you can move the ECU and related relays as one lump to wherever the cable will reach.
rangerider:
tupperware box & lots of sealant, works for coil and ecu
FITZ4X4:
easy job, remove the ecu and relays from udner the seat. Pull back the footwell /tunnel carpet to access the ecu loom, unclip the loom and pull back the cable. Mount the ecu under the dash at high level and hold in place with cable ties. I mounted my latest one to the right of the steering column inplace of the small cubby box. Ive also mounted it in the centre of the dash above the radio in the past but putting it to the right of the steering wheel theres more room and it easier to get at.
banditman:
You need to look at Hang Over you do
Machine Mart do a nice line in convoluted plastic tubing off the shelf which will give you a snorkle for about £20.00 (coupled with a 45 degree downspout elbow for over the roof)
(Hang Over's Snorkle is a Rebel series 3 one upside down!!)
Once you have moved the ECU and sorted the air side....silicon the dizzy cap on and fill yer boots (literally if it stops!!)
