Hi Ppl

Just checking my spare I realised I have 18 inch alloys and a 16" steel spare :cry:  will this work if I need to use it ?

Not unless the 16" has a taller tyre so the wheel is the same rolling radius.

Like he said.
Measure the diameter of both across the centre of the wheels [tread to tread]
If they are the same [give 1/2 inch or so] then yes.
If there is a greater difference, then no.

The size of tyres are 235/70T16 on the spare and 255/55H18 on the alloys.

In that case YES you will be fine.
Only a 1/4 inch difference in overall circumference.
Landrover - there is no substitute.

The annoying thing is that if the manufacturer puts it in the boot then that's ok.  Smaller circumfrence, narrower, only the legal minimum of tread, yes that's right 1.6mm tread when NEW.  That's ok, put a sticker on it and a warning in the handbook and you can put a bycycle tyre on a Ferrari.
