our son was very lucky

while doing his paper round he came out of a junction straight into the path of a honda car, luckily the car was only going around 10-15 miles per hour.  matt got away with a few grazes, a few pieces of glass had to be taken out of his hand a chipped tooth and a broken screen on his phone as well as a dead leg. the car has a smashed window and scratches on the wing and bonnet,  

the lady rang us to say she had been in an accident with matthew and told us where they were and what was happening.  

two ladies took his bike home and told him where they lived too.

after leaving hospital we went to get his bike and guess what?  there is nothing wrong with it, only the handle bars spun round.

matthew has finaly learned that 'parents say things for a reason' i'm just so happy as it could have been much worse.

a sleepless night is ahead as i'll have to keep checking him!

the ambulance crew where great they not only had me, the lady and her daughter as well as matthew to deal with but there was a lot of children from the school where i work too, all looking as they saw 'miss' upset.  i asked the ambulance man to go and tell them it was not my other sons who goes to the same school he explained it to them and asked them to give me 'space' as i was upset and anxious.

the police man came to see him and they too were fine with him although he admitted it was his fault.  i do feel proud that he owned up to what he had done and not tried to blame anybody else, although i feel like driving the range rover over his push bike.

Thank goodness that there were (what sounds like) a number of very helpful people aound too!

Unfortunately, I reckon kids have to find this out for themselves ... I suspect Matthew may listen to you a bit better now :wink:

Glad that he's okay & that other kids actually got involved (taking the bike) & didn't just watch.

He'll be fine, but also be more careful in future

As you say, its good he didnt blame the driver, there is too much of that where kids will do the usual "it wasnt my fault" and parents are too naive to disbelieve it!

Glad to hear he is ok though and i reckon he will have learned a lesson!

You seem to have a fine young man in the making there... admitting he was at fault is a mature thing for a child and just shows how well he has been brought up... so glad its all turned out ok...
