Rear Crossmember socket?

(1/3) > >>

smo:
In my rear crossmember, near the towbar bolt holes there is a large opening, it looks like it can acommodate some form of power socket? Can anyone enlighten me as to what it is there for?

Is it?

My towing elecs, factory fitted are on a plate next to the tow ball - there isnt a chance it would fit in that hold, its totally the wrong shape?

landrover598:
Does it look like this ?

Bush Tucker Man:
Yes, that's the 'official' purpose, even though LR themselves use a mounting plate either on the tow-bar, or under the edge of the cross-member (like on mine)

But, just how do you manage to fit a 12N & 12S into that cross-member cut-out??
