Top Speeds?
ben_haynes:
in my old Series 2a i had 90mph on the gauge which was probably more like 75mph down rockingham hill and i never got a speeding ticket from the camera at the bottom  (they probably thought the camera was faulty seeing a series doing 75mph    ) as it never flashed at me and that was 3 years ago
Robbo:
well....I think its about 55/60 but the speedo says about 50 - plus or minus an inch shake of needle, but running 750's and not redone the speedo yet!...is that an MOT problem?
Its petrol, and no OD.
Litch:
Has anyone checked their speedo against a GPS as things like a change of tyre size, tyre wear etc can make for inaccurate readings (always assuming the speedo was anything like accurate in the first place)?
I checked my 90 recently and was pleased to note that it was pretty good:-
30MPH ind = 28MPH on GPS.
50MPH ind = 48MPH on GPS.
75MPH ind = 72MPH on GPS.
Sounds good to me.
hobbit:
My lightweight cruised at 70 no probs no strain and a great mpg, it was on the back of a recovery wagon mind you going up the m1

My speedo needle is all over the place and have got the 750's. It hasn't failed an MOT on that at all. Only emissions (until it was pointed out that it was a 34 year old diesel land rover) and brakes (until it was pointed out that she is a 34 year old land rover)!!
