Check engine light ??
« on: June 27, 2006, 08:49:34 »
Does the freelander (1999 model) have a check engine light ? should it light when the ignition is on before starting ?

Mines developed a little bit of a miss-fire and having spent a small fortune renewing all the ignition components I am wondering if the previous owner disabled the light if fitted.

Thanks

I may be wrong, but I'm fairly certain our 2000 'W' petrol had one.

But does it come on with the ignition ? I guess I am gonna have to take the dash off and have a look at the bulb anyway.

I can't remember to be honest. But I would expect all the lights to 'self test' as you switch the ignition on. Then some will extinguish straight away while others only go out after the engine is started. And the ABS only goes out as you start rolling.
