Winch - is this one good or bad?
« on: June 26, 2006, 13:12:34 »
Need your help. :?  :?  :?
Landy needa a winch. Have seen this one in the landrover magazine EX9500, 12v, 5.5hp motor and 94 foot of cable and a remote. They say it is £359 inc vat and delivery.
Is this any good?
Will it fit a standard 90 front bumper with an A-bar and spot lights?
It wont be used often but needs to be reliable. Site is www.motocoemi.co.uk

You will need a Winch bumper, but these are not that expensive, as for the Winch itself I have never heard of them and therefore cannot comment.

Can you not get adaptor plates to attach the winch to your existing bumper?

Yes you can. they are known as bikini winch mounts. they are availble for to fit all the main makes of winch. they say on the site it is a superwinch and so it should fit the mount. which IIRC costs about 70 pounds.

if your going to pay that much, go and get a superwinch epi9 for a extra 50 quid, excellent value for money, have one fitted to my challenge 90 and its never failed me yet, just keeps on pulling, even wen warns have sed oooo no ! not doing it ! and packed up    as for fitting to standard bumper you can get bikini mounting kits from david bowyers which are around 90 quid i think off top of my head

it isnt a superwinch, its a cheap japanise copy of something and wont last 2 mins, if you want cheap and chearful then go t-max they are brilliant but suffer from cracked gearbox's but its up to you what you want to spend, id recomend a superwinch epi9 they really are brilliant

WARNs are also good if you can get them, but they are up the pricer end of the scale.
