« on: June 25, 2006, 22:38:47 »
ok, so i have 2 fuel tanks (both 30ltr apparently).

Is the fuel guage sposed to work on both tanks, or just on 1 tank, and if so hows the easiest way to have a guage sorted for the 2nd tank?

cheers

The gauge reads whichever tank is selected at the time, the tap includes a set of contacts enabling the changeover.
As I recall each tank was around 10-gallons which is more in the region of 45L but I stand to be corrected on that point.

As litch says 45 litres, 10 gallons, 2 jerricans

Also as said it should change with the changeover tap to say what each tank is at

Look under the seat bases (and usually a clipped down ally cover too)unless it has a side filling fitted, best way is to open the lids and check the levels, if it has the extending filler neck in it still, you have about a 1/4 tank if the fuel is down to the mesh level on the extension

How rich are you, looking at the figures bandied round by other people, an average figure would be 17-20 mpg, there is so many variables, the only true way is to fill one tank from empty and run it until it runs out checking the mileage then refill and work it out that way, at least you wont get stuck when its try you just switch over to the other tank and crack it up again

Two things that may bring it down is its a 24v and 109" body (more weight than an 88).

Still difficult to set a figure, but the fun is running it around and finding out, you could always do it over different conditions too, more excuse to go out and play with it though

LOL too true!  am planning a trip south in it (if all goes well to the birthday bash) so am trying to see how many mortgages i need to take out, although a mate of mine has an 88" county 2.25 petrol and he gets about 25-28mpg out of it (witnessed it meself so not just hear say!).  but am basing it on about 20mpg at the moment.

Well here's hoping you prove me wring with my guesses

It so difficult to put a figure on these things though

btw dont try using the hand throttle as an auto throttle it will drink even more fuel
