Tyre width
« on: June 25, 2006, 20:29:16 »
was just wondering if i'll have to get some more wheels when i fit my new tyres i'm intending on fitting 235/75's, i'm not sure on the width of the alloys that are on not measured them but would guess they'll be 6".

it wont bother me if i have to replace the wheels as i reckon a set of black mods or wellers would look better than the alloys that are on anyway..

cheers mart

p.s running 195's at mo without too much overhang either side thats why i guessed they'd be 6"

I'm running that size on 7x15 white 8 spokes. Found the wheels at a good price on eBay. I'll PM you the user name I got them from.

You will need to remove the front bumper and cut the rear edge of the front arch unless you have a reasonable lift fitted. Also, you may need to fit spacers to clear the springs on full lock. I have 5mm shims fitted and it still touches one side.

EDIT: Just seen you've already removed the bumper! You will also need wider arch extensions to cover the tyres. I am now looking at buying some plastic trailer arches and cutting them to suit.

i was thinking of using the tread of a tyre to form some arch extensions just hacksaw the sidewall off just something different

The biggest trailer arch I can find in plastic is only to suit a 13" wheel  :(

Like the tread idea though. I seem to remember a car a bit like that. There was graphic tread printed on the front arch. It was one of these track day cars like a Westfield or Atom or something, where the arch hugged the tyre.
