Has anyone any experience of buying a vehicle that has been cat c...??? It has now been repaired and has 12 month mot and a VIC?

How do you get the V% and what will the insurance company say will it say no or be very costly! :?

I have seen the picture of the original damage which was mainly bonnet and near side light. Bumper and wings still straight so chasis should be ok :roll:

Any advice would be helpful even if its stay clear :roll:

Oh its a Pug 306 diesel and its for my daughter :!:

the vic check is just an identity check to confirm that its the vehicle that was written off ,as some people used to ring em :roll:  it takes about 30 mins in total and after, the inspector contacts dvla who in turn send you the new log book ,with damaged or subject to total loss written in it :wink:

its not applicable to cat d write offs :lol:  well wasnt when i went through it all

you can check on the vosa sight ..

CAT C's need a full inspection report etc. so unless its a total bargain (free) then dont bother, CAT D on the other hand is a different kettle of fish as you dot need an inspection, just repair it and go!

Best thing that could happen to a 306... But walk away, there's plenty of cheap small cars around without having to take a gamble like that.

Dont buy it!
It will be difficult to sell again, not to surehow the insurance co would react.
I just looked at a Nissan that was a cat c, written all over log book Substantially damaged.
I am told it will also be flagged up at MOT time.
DEW is right plenty of small cars about, EG I just sold a mint 1994 Astra for £470, just seen a very tidy 306 N reg £750 ono.
Better to look for a bit longer, and dont be dazzled by shiny motors that have dodgey historys, its not worth the hassle. I know it wont be any good for her street cred but the Skoda diesels are very cheap, I know of a 1998 Octavia Excellent condition £1675 12 month MOT. Fabias are even cheaper
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

this was a cat c and all the damage it had was a dented door ...still i stripped it and sold it as parts :lol:
