Whilst in the papershop this morning, I saw a magazine called 'Planet 4x4' (or some such title)

It's got a Brabus specced 'Mog, with the terrific top speed of;

Brabus do some pretty extreme mercs though.

That is a Merc badge on the front in the picture.

They were designed in the '40s as Mercedes alternative answer to the tractor, and are very popular with Military and Expedition type groups for their "go anywhere" capability.



They are available in a variety of basic configurations, to which you affix the type of body required for your purposes.



Their off road performance is pretty awesome, with a number of pure off road features - locking diffs, portal axles, central tyre inflation system...

As per Bush Tucker Mans original post, they're are not famous for their turn of speed!

Some models in (absolute) bottom gear are apparantly capable of about 100metres per hour at idle :shock:

it may have a top speed just past the motorway speed limit but you lot tell me where you can do these kinds of speeds these days on our congested motorways!

besides

it can continue on a certain speed in any terrain from tarmac to mud..

can many other cars do that?

Those little ones are really cute. I picked up a couple of axles for a friend from Frank Atkinsons a few years back (well actually I picked up the keys to his yard and went round to collect my mate's trailer - should have taken a mog as well) and he had one lurking between the normal size ones.

If only I had the room to keep one.

On the contrary, this was one of the things that they are famous for! :shock:  Seeing as they can tow tons and tons and tons and do everything that a big tractor can, yet do 55-60 mph on road these guys were considered fast! :shock:

The Mecedes Unimog was the forerunner to fast tractors such as the MB Trac (which was basically a Unimog with a tractor body!) and the JCB Fastrac.

I agree with Wolfie too, the little ones are dead cute - I want one! :lol:

This is our moggie, it is'nt stuck! Honest....

she was still going forwards when this was taken, but I managed to snap most (all) banjo's and brake pipes of all wheels.

It is towing 600 gallons and was carrying a further 200 gallons of diesel, through shingle and the machine weights 10 tons!

She's a 165hp and crusies at 60mph and on a good run she returns
14 mile to the gallon

I wasn't implying that they can't go (relatively) fast, but emphasising the lack of speed for a Brabus-ed machine

i have something similar...


it's a volvo tgb1314 recently bought it in sweden and in the process of converting to a expedition vehicle for trip to africa...it has a top speed of 65mph and when achieved feels more like 165mph
