Memory Map
« on: May 24, 2006, 19:50:29 »
I have owned memory map (2004) for several years now, and barely use it!

So i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction about making up routes for green laning, currently we use paper maps, and to be honest the work just as well, if not better than electronic gagetry (and this from someone who lokes computers and gagets!)

When making a route do you just mark on the lanes, or the roads between as well?

Do you lot think its actually worth the money, it costs a lot and is of limited use (in my opinion) due to the need for pda/laptop, gps reciever etc, compared to a very versitile paper map!

i tend to use mine alot
i have mm on a lap top with a gps mouse.

i tend to plot the lane start and finish points then just use the  gps to find my way to each lane.

though once you have done a route you can keep the record of the track for future use.

I use MM on a iPAQ in my disco. If going some were new I will mark the start and finish of each lane, then draw a track along the lane in one colour. Then using a different colour will draw a track or route on the main roads between the lanes so I can see at a glance which way to travel. I have found this method to work fairly well in areas I'm not too familiar with.
