Series 3 with a transit engine

I don't know about transit engines, but to be aware if the timing belt/chain is not enclosed as they can clog with mud, then you end up with no engine!! (A mate did his Iveco engine in that way).

It has a plastic cover, but isn't sealed. I've never had any problems with it. Though as with anything that has a belt if you don't know when it was last changed, change it. At least if the belt does break on a transit engine then they normally just break a couple of rockers and bend a couple of pushrods.
