Clutch problem

<< < (2/2)

Rich_P:
Sounds also like a possible stuck clutch.  Stick it into low box, first gear, and put one foot hard pressing against the clutch pedal while you also drive along pressing the brake and the accelerator.  This should release the stuck clutch if it is stuck.  Although in the worst cases the clutch plates still remain stuck, so you have to take the gearbox out to free them.  :(

Tandythelandy:
There was fluid in the reserv.  As it first went wrong I was in reverse and with my foot flat on the clutch still going backwards.... when I lifted my foot it was all over no movement!  Sounds like start with the slave or master cyl then hand it over to someone who really knows how if that doesn't work!

Does anyone know of the best place to get a cheap clutch kit?

Miniman:
Why would it be a stuck clutch he has been driving it. They only get stuck if they are unused.

James.Harwood:
If the pedal doesn't move down i would suspect that the thrust bearing is knackered.

You did say the thrust bearing was noisy earlier in the day.

Unfortunately the only way to tell is by removing the gear box.
