Clutch problem

(1/2) > >>

Tandythelandy:
My clutch gave up today and now the pedal does not even move down..... fortunately i did manage to drive home.... 65 miles!

Any idea what this would be?

Thanks

Miniman:
That dont sound good. Can you explain a bit more. Is the pedal solid then ? Explain it sounds very funny......

Miniman:
Also what is it.... A BMW....he he. petrol , diesel 2.25 or 2.5. year.

Tandythelandy:
It's a 1974 2.25 petrol.  The pedal doesn't move at all now.  It sounded like a thrust bearing was getting noisy earlier in the day and then the pedal went solid... game over... try and get home!!

Miniman:
series 3 or two......gearbox.....
if its series 2 or 2a then its a different gearbox you be dealing with. In all fairness if its not the master cyl or a slave cylinder then its going to be box out. Is there any fluid in the reservour...

There is a pic of a 2a box from a belhosing view. The 2a has a rod which is on the drivers side of the gearbox.

This is visible if you get under and have a look. The series 3 box has a slave cylinder on the passanger side...
