Since mine does it as well should we just call it a 'normal characteristic' ?

I'm assuming it's the same mirror as the RRC.  So is it the whole mirror that wobbles, in which case it's past it's best as the spring in the bottom has come adrift.  Or is it the mirror glass that's loose? if so it could have come away from the mounting in the back (the number I've seen held on with silicone though  ) and the basic mechanism is the same for both manual and electric mirrors, this part can be removed and swapped for a good one if you can get he glass off without busting it.

I have a 300tdi and my wing mirrors fold in by them selves when I put caravan towing mirrors onto them and I get to 40mph or over. Not very handy when trying to look in mirror to overtake on a dual carriage way for the first time when the mirrors were on and having to hold them out with one hand then let go when I have pulled out.

So I was wondering how to tighten them up as well.
