Thanks Jon Boy, looking at the holes in the bracket was it mounted on the
2 welded sections on top of the chasis which would have held the adjustable bumper mounts?
If not can you remember where it was fixed?
i looked at using those 2 points as a fixing but was not sure it would take the strain of 9500 lb pull winch.
but pics are much appreciated as this is drving me nuts.

the winch tray fitted between the chassis rails and the two holes picked up on the normal bumper bolts, i.e it was fixed from the side

this was the best solution i came up with, and in my opinion the neatest

i think ya can still get a bumper like that one of ebay, usually around £150, but the tray was a one off special build, but your welcome to copy it

Guy in Lincs. Is advertising Landie winch bumpers on ebay (Guardian)
he is making them, i sent him an email and he says he can make me a one-off to fit for about £200, bumper and mount so will get in touch with him as i have to travel to lincs. soon.

but i still like the idea of keeping the front as stadard as possible, using a similar idea to yours, did you use it for recovery and did the brackets hold ok or did you reweld the existing brackets.

do you refer to the brackets that bolt the standard bumper to the chassis ?

if so they wernt used on my setup, the bumper was 1 piece that bolted to the outside of the chassis leg, the winch tray bolted to the inside face of the chassis leg, and  4x 12mm bolts held the lot together

yes i used it for recovery but only ever used a doubled up winch line, because the winch was a 6000lb rated unit
