--- Quote from: "Damo" ---Good work tho! Everyone will use an editor which suits them, so just find something your happy with and stick with it.

That's the main thing, and no one tool will do it all. I use Dreamweaver, Textpad, CuteFTP, and FileZilla regularly.
http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ is a good free FTP client though I tend to use the Dreamweaver file uploading.
I'd also endorse Textpad, and the free demo isn't time limited :)

They're not difficult, but don't bother. Using tables for layout would be better. css would be even better but you're probably not ready for that  and getting IE6 to display it properly can be a nightmare.

for anyone that writes HTML and uses Mozilla Firefox as your browser, theres an extension called HTML Validator, that validates your html (obvisouly)
can be found here: http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/
Budgie:
There's also W3C validation that will do HTML, XHTML & CSS.
HTML & XHTML can be found Here.
CSS validation Here.
These make sure that your coding is okay for all types of browsers.

PC world sell a book called "quick fix: HTML" costs about £6.00 worth it's weight in gold regardless of wether you are a beginner or an expert.
We bought it for our 8yr old to learn and practice HTML it's a little difficult for her but she manages ok with the odd shout od "daddy it's stopped working".
In the book it explains everything from uploading to frames and frame sizing also gives ALL HTML codes and some quick fixes for stuff you may have problems with.
Like i said before though take advice for what it's worth.
