Whats this voltage sensetive switch for ?
« on: April 04, 2006, 14:20:32 »
Got a yellow Relay in a range rover marked up as PRC 4427 - voltage sensitive switch.  Its not connected to anything and I am curious to find out what its for and what it does and whether it could be used for anything else.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

might be to do with the heated screen, this wont work unless the alternator is running and putting out power

Managed to decipher it from the wiring diagram.  For information it is fitted to air-con models.  It cuts out the heated screen if the air con slows the engine down too much and reduces alternator output I think.

So it could be used for a split charge system then?

not really, it has an input and an output and a switched output that only goes live when the voltage is above 13.8 volts I think.

You only need a standard automotive relay for a split charge system anyway.
