timming belt

(1/2) > >>

woody:
just contacted the previous owner of my discovery to find out when the last timming belt change was
it was either 48 or 58 thou
its also had a new clutch and power steering pump (bonus)

now haynes say the recomended interval for timming belt renewal is 72 thou
i have 104 thou on the clock

what do mud club members recommend for the belt change as 72 thou seems a lot

also going on hols next week and will prob add another 500 miles on the clock
i would prefer to change the belt at my leasure rather than have to rush it one evening this week

paul_humphreys:
If it was me I would get it done now.

wing nut:
the old saying is ..if in doubt ///changing a timing belt is the cheaper option

NiceBlueWellies:
Seeing what happened to Charity's engine at Towcester last year - change it now.

Much cheaper to do it before it goes and also less pressure to rebuild it quickly to get back on the road.

hobbit:
My listing says 72,000 for the 300, or 36,000 under adverse conditions

But as said, if in doubt, change the thing now

I knew mine was done, and whenit came up for the renewel, it was as good as new, but still not worth risking it
