--- Quote from: "tenpolequint" ---Thankyou Datalas for the information on Scotland. I ignorantely thought Scotland, rural area, loads of green lanes. When you told me it was more or less illegal I pondered on this and I conclude that vast areas of Scotland are National park land therefore no greenlaning. What a downer. Mind it still must be useful even essential in remote areas to own a 4x4 with the harsh winter environment.

not quite, there is some sections that are national park,SLROC lost a great site at callander due to them jiggering with the boundarys & the site then became part of the national park, also the winters up here arent really that harsh unless you stay out in the sticks,
TBH u either deal with 40+ vehicles in convoy greenlaning up here or dont bother,of the top of my head there is 2 :!: greenlanes in scotland & both are 3+ hour drives from the central belt & one of them is closed to to erosion on the far end (karloss knows where im at with this 1)
Up here to go offroad you either join a club & use small sites or be friendly with a landowner (this is to go offroad legally)
there are sites that i know off where the ground is unclaimed & used by the bikers & its fair game to play there aswell as most of them are waaaaaay out the road from any civilisation,
Personally i think you should come up here & see what we have to play with, its not alot but it is good, especially the drumclog site (see events section for details)
when i think of some more ill add it

I have to say that anyone using the front cover as ammunition would look a bit silly when anyone else read the full article !
I meet bobble hats regulary when we go out and most are polite and ready to chat .
Most have seen idiots but are able to see that we are not all bad .
I know there are plenty of anti groups who regularly publish twoddle about us but lets get real how many non 4x4 and every day folk take any notice of them ???
I know plenty of folk who are deemed as "normal"(I use the term generaly) and they get more upset by horse and trail bike riders as these use tracks that most of us would not drive. Most of the lanes we use are pretty spartan of bobble hats as they have plenty of their own paths to wander. :D
I get annoyed at folk trying to make an argument out of nothing and in the process giving the antis fuel !
On another note the bobtailed rangie was on ebay a couple of weeks ago.
We would be better off reading bobble hat and horse magazines to check on what they actually say rather than checking LR magazines for what they "might" say . :?: :D :D

Surely most of the horse and hound readers own Land rovers and the like, to pull their horse boxes. I dont know how much that weighs but I think it would be far easier and no struggle when hitched up to a defender.
