Spare wheel carrier
« on: March 23, 2006, 16:32:56 »
Just fitted my new 235/85/16 tyres, the truck looks great but now the spare wheel won't fit. Has anybody fabricated / altered the spare wheel carrier to hold larger tyres, I have a few ideas on designs etc.

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

I just removed the carrier and redrilled the holes and bolted it back on.
You need to take some off with a grinder so that the wiper arm doesn't catch.

I didn't realise that there's a difference between 200 & 300 tdi's. My 235/85/16 fit's my standard 300 rear wheel carrier !

I made a plate with 6 holes, 3 studs and 6 wheel nuts. It's raised the spare wheel a treat and looks tidy.
