Hi i am sure this is not the first and won't be the last post on this subject........................discovery 300tdi i know it is the immobalise that is causing the problem, i have been quoted between £115-£370 for a new spider unit or the supersed part equivilent to the spider, i have read the artical about the by pass unit part number AMR4956....................This sound great especally the price! £5.00 but i am  unsure will this completely by pass my alarm ect so redering my c locking usless as well?????  any suggestions as to wether it is better to get a new replacment spider or is this by pass just as sutable..................thanks for your help in advance!!!

Dont know about the bypass unit you quote, I just paid an auto electrican £40 I think it was to fit a cobra imobliser and disconnect the factory one, centre locking still works , no problems since.

But also talk to the remotekey.co.uk guys as they specialise in rover alarms replacements, fixing, improvements and totally disabling them.

I have had this problem on my Disco. I simply removed the faulty spider and then very carefully re-soldered the two main pins on the circuit board and put it back together. It's not stopped since. The fault is always a broken solder joint, nothing more.

I did try a 2nd hand spider but it didn't work as each spider is programmed to the main alarm unit.
