Pain getting hold of 52mm. Thanks MAURICE

(1/3) > >>

Edge:
Spent all morning driving all over the place to get hold of a 52mm socket to remove hub locknut on my 90. Everywhere i went....inc truck/lorry garage /tractor garages/ autopart/halfords/Landrover dealer/ford dealer/local farm supply shop/ various independant repair garages, all looked at me like i was from MARS.....they all said there was no such size of tool, landrover dealer said they use "hammer and chisel".
In the end after going on to mud-club live chat (thanks guys), i was put on the right track.........I phoned Maurice at 4muddyfeet in Morpeth..... he instantly offered to supply the correct tool and also offered to bring it closer to my home address this evening after work  :D  :D  :D  What a brilliant service.
Worried me about the Landrover Main dealer using hammer and chisel :?  Makes you wonder if main dealer servicing is all its cracked up to be.

Wanderer:
I know for a fact that Laser do a 52mm socket. I bought one but it isn't deep enough to do the job.

So, anyone want a 52mm socket that won't take off hub nuts

Hammer and chisel must be the technical way to do it  :?

woody:
hammer and a blunt cold chisel have been the proffesionals choice for years
and one size fits all

hobbit:
Actually the main dealer would probably use a hammer and drift, it works, and if the nut is already not in pristeen condition for the sake of a few pence its worth replacing them anyway

Eeyore:
Ooo, the Laser one I bought does the job nicely. Maybe the newer ones are deeper? Or are the shafts that different twixt 110 and Disco?

Curious!

cheers
