Budgie:

--- Quote from: "Brother Ted" ---Obviously its quite heavy, got rock/tree sliders, 2" lift, scorpion front and rear bumper, super winch EPi9, this seems to affect top end speed (ie, it maxes out at 80) not sure if this is a problem or just cos its so heavy, also not sure if the wheels make a big difference to the speedo.

If you've still got the standard transfer box, diffs & speedo gear then you may want to check your speed with a GPS, you may be going slower that you think!!

Is it quite hard to pull away, slows when it sees a hill and struggles to do 30mph in 4th gear? If so then it's the tyres effecting the overall gearing of the vehicle rather than the extra equipment you've put on it.

I ended up putting a 1.44:1 ratio transfer box from a TD5 Defender in mine when I fitted the 33x12.5x15's, although this only brings the high ratio back to about normal, low range remains the same and is a little over geared on hills. Makes you pay attention though!  :D

And Simon, your man is talking a load of cr@p, the only way to wind up the transmission is to leave the centre difflock engauged while driving on the road! I've had the 33" tyres on the Disco for nearly two years now and not suffered any problems.

Brother Ted, I got my intercooler from the fellas at Allisport.  Cracking bunch, mad as sticks too!

I think I will take the plunge and get taller tyres next year then.  I did think the fella was talking nonsense when he mentioned wind up and all that, but I didn't argue as he had my truck on the ramps at the time...

I would recommend them any day of the week for tyre prices and service, but maybe not on 4x4 tyre choice advice...

BIG-OKI:
got my turbo sorted   :D   :D  got a new one. cost me a mint but worth it.
found someone with tyres. :)  BFG'S
now then back to this lift.
the chart posted here,  is that with a 2" lift or without???
what can i do without changing too much. can i get away with a small lift with no break pipes or radius arms ect needing to be changed.
so to sum it up. what can i do to my disco???
what size tyres with what lift???

BIG-OKI:
