Fusebox (300TDi)
TimM:
I've been running my CB from a cigarette lighter plug for ages now, and have decided it's about time it was wired in properly.
I've seen on here lots of people have said they have wired it into a spare fuse in the fusebox, but I've had a look in there and they all seem to be used :?
I have an ES model so it has electric everything and all the circuits on the list (on the drop down panel) are being used - though there are some fuse holes that don't seem to be included in the list, so I suspect these may be spares [-o<
BUT.... I was having a quick prod round last night with a screwdriver in failing light, and couldn't work out how to get to the back of the panel, the haynes book of confusion was no help at all.
Has anybody done this with theirs and can give me any pointers?
Pike:
ive got mine wired in to the interior light live,Ive mounted my cb up above my head in the overhead console, but I wpould think any live point would do as cb,s dont take much power any way.

If you're thinking of a few different bits and pieces, you might want to wire in a new fuse box directly off the battery - then you can add radios, spotlights, air horns etc to your heart's content. I got mine off eBay.
TimM:
Hmmmm, a new fusebox...... That sounds like not a bad idea.
There is plenty of spare space in the engine bay for another box, I'd just have the trouble then of getting all the wiring into the 'cabin' then (I'm visualising a disaster after tackling the bulkhead with a drill only to find something important on the other side  )
hobbit:
Plenty of room to slot some cable through down the drivers bulkhead, only need to drop the kick panel off above the pedals to access, you can attack the fuse box to the bulkhead itself, plenty high enough
The fusebox will come undone away from the hole with a couple of screws and you can then pass any cables over the steering column and away you go to wherever you want too go with them
