I would disagree, the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations specify that headlamps can be white or yellow.

Additionally they allow sidelights to be yellow "if incorporated in a headlamp which is capable of emitting only a yellow light"

I think there is (or was) something about country of manufacture. Cars imported from america can still be seen on the street that have the indicators built into the break lights. I have a kwak 600 imported from the states that comes with american spec lighting i.e. the front indicators are ON (but at a lower intensity) unless you are indicating then they errrrrrr indicate. Some MOT stations passed them with a comment such as "American wiring?" others wouldnt. I disconected them in the end even though I thought they made me more visible just to avoid the MOT gamble.

I remember a guy used to have an Artic with an American Trailer, I.E. The Indicator was red and part of the main cluster. He got stopped at a weigh station one day and the tester thought it had a wire crossed until he explained it.

Shortly after he was made to fit some aftermarket british lights to it.
