Just toying with the idea of a suspenion lift to my rr. But dont know which route to take do i get extended springs or go for spacers. Looking at about 1 to 1.5 inch lift. will be used for greenlaning and occ pay and play sites. But i do tow a caravan with it so dont want soft springs. Any ideas as which route would be best as a cant make my mind up. Thanks :-k  :(thinkhard):  oh its a 82 rrc

not much to choose unless your springs are knacked, how old are they? If they are original i would be tempted to do springs and shocks then you have more flexibility and reliable damping.
How much do you want to spend?

think springs were changed when it had the engine conversion got "blue" springs on the back and i think standard on the front. They look ok no sagging think rear shocks are in need of replacing as you can sqeeze then close with your hands. thats what got me thinking of the lift as i may as well do it at the same time as replacing the shocks. money wise cheap as per normal for a rr owner :D

hmmm, you can do the springs relatively cheaply but im a firm believer in "buy cheap. buy twice". You could spend a fortune but i had spring spacer and they serve a purpose but dont improve handling on or off road.
You coming to the pub do? Plenty of time for debate over a pint!

me thinking now full lift kit for under £400. it could be the route to take thinging of what bulli said about the possable state of coils and knowing the rear shocks need replacing. Plus it looks easy enough to self fit.

For your suggested use why raise it at all?

Re have done pleanty of off roading in a Rangie on Standard suspension across Cannock chase. If doing lots I'd be inclined to fit diff guards, steering guards and removable towbar (for the caravan).

Unless you put big tyres on you still only have standard height bewteen the diff and the ground.  Extra articulation is nice to have but hardly necessary for the majority of lanes.

All depends on how much you want to retain the towing ability but I'd leave it as is but for underside protection and fitting the tallest tyres you can get awar with without fouling the arches.

ok now your playing with my head so now its do i rase or not if i raise get the full kit or do i leave ride hight along and go for underbody protection. All this cos i wanted to replace the back shocks. feel the need for beer :shock:  :wink:

is that the one off junction 28 of the m1.  Just done a autoroute of it and its a lot closer than i thought so i may come up to it

I use mine for similar to what you have described and it has also been suggested to go for the protection route rather than suspension mods but I was advised to leave tow bar on as it can protect rear end and petrol tank

got a fuel tank gaurd for it in the shed never got run to putting it on yet. Just been pricing up diff gaurds and sump.sterring guards think i will be downing down that route now with new rubber feet for her aswell

Even cheaper here - 4 x 2" lift springs, 4 x pro-comp shocks, all 12-months old, £150.00, used about three times off road.
