wheel bearing?
denviks:
hi all. might be a bit of a daft question and i think i already know the answer. driving along the motorway today i noticed a rumble sound. when i steer left at 70 it disapears and comes back asoon as im in a straight line again. is this the sign of a wheel bearing on its way?
also whats involved in doing the job as i have the mac coming up soon. could it be something else?
any help or advice most welcome.....thanks guys n girls

Wheel bearing is nice and easy to change, all you need to do is remove the wheel hub, take old ones out, put new ones in, add ample grease, and then refit hubs :D

but if it eint cooked then yer its pretty easy  even i did one
ive still got spare sets in the garage ready lol

I,ve cooked two rear wheel bearings. And had to replace the stubaxle on both occasions.I missed the rumbling noises .When you have a teenage daughter the radio is up loud .A lot of things get missed.

If the seat is jammed in, just run an inch of weld around it. As the weld cools it constricts the race allowing it to come out easier. Used to do that with motorcycle steering head bearings.
