Don't want to upset you guys but my face vents blow lovely and hot . . . . even in this weather once the motor has warmed up.
Running around local they get warmish, not exactly hot, but going to work on the M62 (50 miles'ish) they get really hot once the motor gets going. Used to think the heater was shot but it turns out it works fine on longer runs once the engine temperature stabilises. Slow down or pull off onto normal roads and let the temperature drop again usually results in me looking for my gloves again.
I think most the problems with Discovery heaters are that the vehicles are not doing enough miles at the right sort of speeds for the heaters to kick in properly. I travel over 100 miles a day to work, mostly on the motorway and those speeds I have no trouble at all.
My mate who travels with me has complained it's too warm a few times recently.
Well that my experience with my current Land Rover . . . . and same can be said for a few other I've known.
That said the flaming heater will probably pack up now - if it does i'm getting solid fuel installed
