cv joint help.

hi all. just tried to order a cv joint for my 93 disco 2.5tdi without abs. now i want to order one as a spare but ive been told that there are 2 types depending on the amount of splines  :shock: ...is there any way of finding out how many mine has without stripping it down. i only want to carry a spare and it seems so much trouble to strip it down just to find out?

gotta be easier than that has nt it?

Sorry but.........the only way to tell is remove the outer half shaft on the front and you should be able to tell from that.

 :cry:  :cry:  :cry: thanks mate. i suppose i had better think about doing it then. just want to carry a spare. never know when one will go and i have alot of traveling to do this year in the old girl  :wink:

Ok...........but if it goes you will also need all the tools etc to do the job at the road side...........also if one does go you can still drive it just need to put it in diff lock.

i do carry alot of tools in the back on the disco.  full halfords pro socket set , pri bars and a whole tool box full  :wink: . i dont leave home without them ( can never be too prepared  :wink: )....when going long distance i also carry 1 axle stand. i wouldnt want to go far with the diff lock engaged. i know how exspensive it can get  :wink:
