I don't think that there has ever been a proper attempt at this in the UK, although I know it has been done in Holland.

We used to run a couple of stages at Knockhill race track on the Scottish Hillrally which combined the rallycross track with the off road track that runs through the middle of the tarmac race circuit.  It was awesome to watch and compete on!

The nearest thing we have got to neck-and-neck races in the UK has been the Short Course Off Road Racing that organisations such as SCORR do.  This has been largely dominated by VW and latterly motorcycle engined 2wd buggies on a motorcross style course.

Henry Webster:
Ja1983 and David (dew1911), it looks like you both need to get yourself down to a British Off Road Championship event or a Hillrally.

They are free to spectate and there is some great action to watch.  The websites are in my sig.  The BORC website is about to be relaunched - more info soon.

.....and horribley, horribley addictive..........

Webster, I want a word with you!

All joking aside the level of entertainment the BORC provided last year was amazing. Primordial noise, dirt, titanic battles and good beer. Dude, what more can you ask for in a race series?  8)

cheers
