is it to convert the throttle over to cable on a Series.  I think someone mentioned a 90 cable fitting somehow, but I can't quite recall...

Why would you want to change to cable?  For the petrol 2.25, the linkage is fine for the job.

hehe,

oh no its not!!

i know exactly why, i had leads of trouble with all the linkages in mine a few months ago, i must have accidently knocked it or something and it never was the same after,

i tried getting a new linkage and all new ball joints for the end of them but they don't make them any more except little plastic links which you have to use now but they still left far to much play in mine,

i never did mine in the end but i am sure you could easily make it fit.

I fitted a cable to my SIIa when I installed a Jag lump, I've retained it on the V8 too.

I had lots of trouble finding someone to make the cable for me but eventually got two made up (one as a spare) by a chap at a motorcycle shop. You are bound to have one locally. If you get a cable which will alow a clevis pin to be placed through the lever which emerges from the foot pedal shaft in the engine bay then all you need to do is fix it to the carbs.

You will need to create a bracket which will hold the cable near to the lever from the foot pedal. Don't make the mistake I made and fasten this to the engine because when the engine ticks over when cold it rocks...which tightens the cable, which makes it rock more.... no fun in an Auto IIa!!!!

weld / bolt your bracket to the foot well and all will be fine. I think I paid £18 per cable. I've just paid £15 for a genuine 101 one so can't grumble re custom cables either.

So it's not hard, just time consuming... oh and don't bin the old levers. I've just used one to fix the 101's accelerator pedal!

Thanks - pretty much what I thought

.....because the turbo SU conversion that I've got , and the alternative twin choke weber off an early 90 would both be a damn sight easier to operate with cables as opposed to trying to modify the rods
