Took rover for spin after 7 mile journey got home, engine really rough and wont idle.  Mate has check injector and fuel is flowing.

Now engine will start but very eratic and cut out. No power but tries to rev then cuts out.  I have replaced diesel and put in reddex diesel injector cleaner to no avail, has anyone got an idea what may be wrong?

Have you changed the fuel filter?
I'm not sure if the 200's have one but check there's no sedimentor in the system, if so try draining the water out of it.
Could also be your lift pump, if this has gone then the engine wont be getting the right amount of fuel to run properly.

lift pump mine did the same unless water in Fuel or leak in fuel pipes?

if its the lift pump you can check by removing Fuel Filter and it shuld be almost full if its lower most likes the lift pump or place ya finger on manual pump located on the side of lift pump and see if its pulsing etc

Similar thing happenned to me last week.  I had a small leak in a fuel pipe.  Thing is just got it fixed and the clutch slave exploded (not related)  I would say a leaking pipe would be pretty obvious though.

I wish this project would just hurry up and finish!

But I don't think it will if I keep making simple mistakes
