--- Quote from: "Steel" ---....... It seems every year at the Woodvale Rally (RAF Woodvale) there are at least 2 Merlin Engines present, which are fired up.  Last year they had 3.
Very nice engines, especially when they increased the revs to the higher band.  The floor vibrated strongly, and you could feel the vibration through the air against your chest from these giant engines.  :D

One year when we were racing at Goodwood (cars, not horses!) a Spitfire appeared quite literally over the tree line, flipped on it's side and knife edged right across the field and hopped over the trees at the other side of the track. It then came round again and landed, then taxied up right beside the paddock so we could all feel the engine through the ground. ..... truly stunning  :D  :D It was the one that has been converted to 2 seats. Memorable moment.

I also have the pleasure of working next to an old airfield where they keep several old aircraft. The highlight is the P51D Mustang with it's Merlin engine. The pilot doesn't treat it at all like a museum piece. It gets chucked around the sky right over where I work and the whole industrial estate empties into the car parks to watch.... every time!

We get a couple of Spitfires (Replicas I presume) fly over the school on a regular basis, and they sound so fantastic it is unbelivable, Absolutley gorgeous.

Twin seater.  The spit wasn't called Perfect Lady, was it?

Could be the real things, because there are more and more Spitfires being put back into the air.  For instance, the RAF Memorial Flight has 8 spitfires!  :D
