A big nasty looking dog always a good starting point.
I got a Toad Ai606 fitted alarm imobiliser, does lots of confusing things. Can be linked to central locking and electric windows.

Spoke to LR 'Customer Services' at dinnertime.
Yes!, I actually got through :shock:
They stated that only the current (04 model) Defenders have a Thatcham approved fitment.
So I went into Wakefield, rather than brood at home, & called at a highly approved alarm/ICE installer; a friend who is a Director of the local 'Black & White' taxies tells me all his drivers use them for phone-kits & sat-nav.
So it's off in on Friday morning for a Thatcham 'cat 2' immobiliser fitting.
May enquire about 'Tracker' as well

Right, it's been in this morning, dropped it off at 08:45 (after the school-run :roll: :wink: )
Walked up into Wakefield, bought a couple of books, got bus home :shock: (£1.45!!!, train to Leeds yesterday was only £3.60 return)
Waited a bit (& posted on here :roll: ), then got another bus back.
Wandered up KirkGate & down through WestGate & down to collect it.
Everything fine & A-OK!
Headed off to the new (big) Borders Books at Gildersome (near IKEA, jct 27/M62) had a browse.
Went back along M62 to jct 30, off & nipped up to Swillington Trailer Centre.
Parked up & when I came back...nothing, just a rapid clicking :evil: :evil: :evil:
Made rapid arrangements to have Amelia picked up
Eventually after checking fuses & relays got it going (needed to move fuel pump relay) got it running & back home (having requested possible recovery from a 90 owning neighbour)
Phoned fitters &; "Bring It Back Down Sir & We'll Have A Look!"
Sat in shop for almost an hour, but it ended up being a wrongly crimped connector behind the pump relay.
Fair play to the man, he held his hands up & admitted it was his fault.
So now it's back to normal & it's my 'pal' again :roll: :wink:

This makes a good case for the answer to this question being a resounding 'No'!![/i]
Forgot to add, for some reason it also blew the fuse for the instruments, so drove home with no instruments working (inc; speedo!) & no indicators

That is why regardless of approval I also fit myself, at least you know the job is done correctly ;)
