Bush Tucker Man:
Anyone know what catagory (if any) factory fit alarm/immobilisers are??
And if they're at least cat 2, where can I get a certificate to pass along to the insurers??
This question is with regard to my 1999 110
hobbit:
Take the steering wheel off photo the shaft and send it to them telling them you've added this as an additional immobiliser
Land rover though should be able to help you out with the alarm, or a reputable alarm fitter, the insurance should also be able to tell you what they are looking for on how the system operateds
Slimer:
Strange, most vehicles I've had over the past 10 years or so have had factory fit alarms and/or immobilisers, I've never once been asked for any sort of certificate to prove it. As soon as you say 'factory fit' to the insurance company they're happy, I've always assumed there's some sort of insurers database with vehicle details provided by the manufacturer that they can check these sorts of details on :?
Jimbo:
Richard,
The LR factory-fitted alarm/immob on my 110 Td5 is not listed on the Insurance 'Thatcham database' - so it's not catagorised. I had to get a Cat2 device fitted as part of the insurance requirements.
