Jim-Willy:
Well i havnt had time to get to a trial for ages so i arent sure what they all run so havnt seen any of the real aggressive stuff in action. I am told RTV use mainly Diamond or SAT style so want to know from any trialers which seems best???

I think Diamiond is what im gono go with but any experience would be gratefully accepted.

Thing is though the SAT holds a magical quality for me as a boy me and my uncle went offroading in a mint 50s S1 on SAT's and i love the look but 7.50 is too small.

I trial most of the time and I'd say it depends how 'serious' you are.

One club would be mainly diamonds as they use their vehicles mainly off road. The other club members use less aggressive tyres like Machos a lot. You get some BFG, some claws.

I haven't seen anyone use SAT for ages and generally those that turn up with 'older' style tyres replace them. I was unusual in using my SAG tyres for quite a time but they worked well on the series and well enough on the RR.

Hardly anyone I know who trails a LR would go over 750 size as you start to lose turning circle and in trials that's very important. Same with fat tyres like 265 75, you start to lose turning circle.

Also taller tyres will raise the centre of gravity so you get all wibbly wobbly on side slopes which no-one enjoys! 750 seems a very good compromise size to me.

Xtremeteam:
i run 750 sats on the road 90 <spit> & on the racer (same set just swap them round) & there are times where they have been not as good as the diamonds but there is other times where its been the better tyre, any how ive bought a set o 205 diamonds to run along side the 750's so i have a choice depending on the terrain im trialing/racing on,

BUT i have noticed that im in the minority using the 750's for trials as almost all the bowlers etc  are running 235/70/16's which are a fair bit smaller than the 750's

Jim-Willy:
I dont trial i just figure if a tyre is OK for RTV then it is good enough for me.  I think i will stick to the original plan and get 235/85 Diamonds.

Ta for your help :)

Hmm, Bowlers never seem the ideal trails machine to me. They seem rather big and not as nimble as a 90 say. Lovely motors but I'd rather trial a 90 and sad to say if I wanted to win a Suzuki!
