Wheel Spacers? Why so expensive, cheaper alternative?
Robbiellewellyn:
Hi, i am thinking of putting spacers on my Series 2A but the only ones i can find are through Paddocks or Craddocks for about £200!! I dunno if im missing out on something but why do chunks of metal cost so damn much!! Anyways, if anybody has any for sale or knows where to get them cheaper, advice would be good.
P.s Range Rover axles are not an option unfortunatley
Cheers all,
Jim-Willy:
Why? Gayspokes with some widish tyres will make it stable enough. Spacers put more wear on the steering.
ian_s:
the spacers are expensive because they have to take an enormous about of stress, and also place an enormouse amount of stress on your wheel bearings and swivel bearings
and i beleive they will also make your steering heavier.
i'd go for the different wheels, think what you can get for £200

Go for wolf rims or 130 style rims, they will give the same effect without sterring your axle.
Frankie-Boy:
Ordinary 8 spoke rims will widen your track, they made a big difference to the track width of my series II a few months back, coupled with a wider tyre, say 235 or 245x70x16 and would be generally easier on the bearings and steering.
