Missing from truck...
Toppa:
Hey people, was up at whadden(?spelling) <Whaddon>the other weekend, at some time during the day when i was away from the truck, poss getting my lunch, i was stupid enough to beleave all 4x4 users like myself arnt thieving ***** and someone has had some shackles away along with big can of wd40 from the fron passenger footwell of my truck, no i hadnt locked it. Stupid of me i know.
Yes before anyone askes they were without a doubt there and stolen, and no they couldnt have fallen out, i think i would notice all three items landing on my foot.
I hoped to be proved wrong, but they are not in the truck anywhere and that is where they were last, considering they wernt used i couldnt have left them anywhere...
So be warned if you are up there, lock it up!!!!! or some thieving ***** may well have it away....
Cheers
Dirty Gertie:
Sad to say there are some light-fingered individuals amongst us, as I found out at P'boro show 2004; HL was locked, and my handbag hidden behind the drivers seat, I'm sure it was not visible from outside the vehicle: I omitted to put the padlocks on the front doors and some thieving scumbag decided they had a right to open my car either with another Defender key, or expertly picked the lock, once in, they stole my polished ali gear & tranny box knobs, and they found my handbag and stole my wallet. Leaving me penniless and needing a set of replacement knobs, as well as having to cancel bank and credit cards, my driving licence was also in it.
3 months later, a member of staff rang me and told me they had found my wallet in a toilet cistern on the showground, everything except the cash was still inside.
Theiving scumbags deserve a bit of 'cosmetic surgery' IMO - removal of their fingers with a pair of rusty, blunt sidecutters, no anaesthetic and NO antiseptic!!!

Sorry to here that Toppa, I been using the Whaddon site for many years now and never heard of anything being knicked.
It does make you wonder whos about. once again I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune.
Toppa:
Other than that, and filling my clutch so full of mud it still dosnt work properly!! it was a great day and a great site. But as with any hobby/passion/lifestyle there is always some ars----es involved. Not expensive to replace, just pisses me off they would do that!!
Just though i would warn everyone to be carful, next time it may be something expensive that goes for a wander...
Cheers

A couple of years ago there were incidents at one of the LR shows of people having their wheel nuts stolen. (Plus a generator IIRC muddyweb  )
Could have come to manslaughter, not just theft.
Very annoyed on your behalf Toppa. Dirty Gertie makes a good point about the interchangeability of LR keys even if you *do* lock it; on that note I think I'll fit more substantial door locks to the 101.
